Terms of service

These terms cover your use of numail — email hosting for your own domain, operated as an independent, small-scale service. By signing up you agree to them.

The service

numail hosts email for domains you own or control. We provide mailbox storage, IMAP/SMTP/webmail access, inbound spam filtering, and the DNS setup wizard in the portal. You bring the domain; we handle the mail server.

Billing

  • Mailboxes are billed monthly, per mailbox, at the price shown on the pricing page (currently $2/mailbox/month, no minimum) via Stripe.
  • Adding or removing mailboxes updates your subscription quantity immediately and is prorated — you're only charged for what you actually used.
  • Cancel any time from the Stripe billing portal (linked from the numail portal). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you keep access until then.
  • Failed payments are retried automatically with an email notice. If payment ultimately fails, your account is suspended — see Data below for what happens to your mail.

Acceptable use

You may not use numail to send spam, unsolicited bulk email, phishing, malware, or any illegal content, or to relay mail on behalf of third parties without our agreement. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any mailbox or account that violates this, with or without notice, if we believe it threatens our mail server's reputation or breaks the law. We'll always try to warn you first unless the abuse is severe or ongoing.

Service levels

We run numail on a reasonable-effort basis. At this price point we don't offer a formal SLA or uptime guarantee. In practice: outbound mail relay and webmail may occasionally be briefly unavailable during maintenance or upstream provider issues. Inbound mail uses standard store-and-forward SMTP, so if numail is briefly down, sending mail servers queue and retry automatically — a short outage does not mean lost mail.

Data ownership and retention

Your mail is yours. We don't claim any ownership over the content of your mailboxes.

If your account is suspended (for non-payment or acceptable-use reasons), your mail is retained for 30 days, during which reinstating your account (e.g. by fixing billing) restores full access with nothing lost. After 30 days, suspended mailboxes and their contents are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Deleting a mailbox yourself is also permanent and immediate — export anything you need first via IMAP or webmail.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, numail's total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is capped at the total fees you paid us in the 3 months prior to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost business or lost data, beyond that cap. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. If we make a material change, we'll notify you by email to your account address before it takes effect. Continuing to use numail after that counts as acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, where numail is operated and hosted.
